A Place To Be

I created the project “Punk Rock Girl Art” in 2015 as a space to share my industrial abstract & rust photography, urban exploration pictures and more raw vulnerable art. I wanted a place to be online where nobody knew me because often that’s when it’s easiest to openly express your true self. That’s what I’ve loved about Punk Culture from the start. As someone who came from a very conservative religious family and never quite fit in I escaped into the world of punk at the age of 15 and never looked back. 😉 This project for me is a space online that feels more like the freedom of being unknown on the edge of a dive bar or stage diving at a packed show. A place where you forget what everyone else expects you to be and you are authentically undeniably in the moment and no where else. Art gives me that too. When I’m painting and blasting music I’m lost in my own world forgetting everything else and I love it. The same feeling when you’re trudging through a train yard or junk yard or trekking through an abandoned building with your friends and your camera and finding fascinating works of art in little corners of the world where most people would never expect to see it. That’s what I love most & why I do what I do.
